This is a rare Himbi fetish from the Benue river area of Nigeria
The Himbi are a sub tribe of the larger Afo tribe who inhabit parts of the remote Benue river area in Nigeria
The powerful standing female figure with open mouth and piercing enigmatic stare, the face and body
incised with with tribal markings, this figure is made from heavy hard wood with a blacked and worn patina,
such figures would have been kept in a shrine on the outskirts of villages to ward off malevolent spirits
