A very rare Museum quality large schist stone mortar the underside hollowed carved with a row cross shaped holes to the interior, the curved front with a lion supporting the shaped upper lip section, the upper back section heavily worn on the grinding face.
Used in the preparation of Ayurveda medicines and pigments for Hindu religious rituals
