A fine large Spanish Colonial post Inca Colonial Kero Peru
A large hard wood Kero cup carved in flaring form with incised geometric design with small silver inlays.
Period 17-19th century AD
Measures: Height 6 1/2 x 5 1/2 Inches 17 x 14 cm
Condition some age wear and minor damage. Small repairs.

The Kero originates in ancient times in South America and pre dates the abundant pottery and wood Kero`s of the Tihuanacu cuture 4-10 century Ad. Incised and decorated Kero`s were very popular with the colonials in the post Inca period of the 16/17th century and there production continued well into the 19th century.
