Pre Columbian Rare Recuay Vessel Provenance Darwin Keynes

A charming and very rare Recuay vessel of a spotted deer ,  very finely made small spouted vessel  of a deer with  long tale and exaggerated teeth

holding and curved object: a baby deer in its mouth ( the head of the baby has been lost in antiquity.)

Pre-Columbian, northern highlands Peru, Recuay culture, ca. 200 to 600 CE.

Condition: Leg rejoined, minor wear

Measures: Size height 16 x 10 cm, 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches

Provence: Ex col Richard Darwin Keynes 14 Aug 1919-12 June 2010

Great Grandson of Charles Darwin and Nephew of John Maynard Keynes.

Collected during a trip Darwin Keynes made following his grandfathers Travels in South America.
