Sotheby`s Sale of African, Oceanic and Pre columbian art on 7th May 2016 included a Uli Ancestor figure from the Pacific island of
New Ireland for a new record high price
The uli ancestor figure collected in the early 19th century but dated to pre 1800 with some excellent provenance including the Museum für Völkerkunde, Berlin, before 1914, Arthur Speyer II Berlin 1920s, Charles Ratton, Paris 1950s, sold for a price of $4,730,000 usd inc Buyers premium.
